This began as an idea back in May (2022) on the Joshua Bardwell Discord Server.

As this project is (mostly) done I thought I’d document the original thread here and add some additional thoughts.

⚽ Goals

I had a few goals in mind when starting this project:

• Don’t want to permanently modify my Radio, whatever I do should be reversible.
• Should be able to power the FPV monitor from the Radio’s built in 5000mAh 2S LiPo Battery
• It shouldn’t interfere with the power requirements for modules in the JR bay (Crossfire in this case).

📝 Parts List & Tools

It’s a pretty simple parts list for this project, though you will need a soldering iron (I highly recommend the TS100 ❤️) and also a plastic pry tool for the screen (something like this)

• DC-DC Buck Convertor

• Right Angle Pin headers - just incase the Buck Convertor doesn’t come with them.

• Pack of U.FL to SMA Female Pigtail - though you’ll be removing the U.FL connector.

🔨 Removing the LCD Screen

Partially disassembled monitor - The top of the screen is being held by my index finger.

The plastic screen protector (the bit with the “Ethix” logo) can be easily peeled off from the edges with a pry tool, there’s not much adhesive keeping it on.
